I've got a special place in my heart for this all-volunteer charity, started by friends after losing their little girl, Sarah Grace, at age 12 to one of the most curable forms of leukemia (ALL) just 9 months after being diagnosed. Sarah's parents, Marissa and Matt Weippert, were fortunate to have an overwhelming outpouring of community support while they, and their son James, faced the challenges of this disease alongside of Sarah. They realized that not all families are as fortunate to receive such tremendous support, and formed The Sarah Grace Foundation as their way of thanking those who helped them – by helping others and by keeping Sarah’s memory alive at the same time.
The Sarah Grace Foundation provides age-appropriate programs to help patients cope with, understand, and mark milestones in their treatment, and provides comfort and support to the families of these children suffering from cancer.
